Piece of My Heart - Big Brother & The Holding Company - 1968

Janis Joplin was the lead singer of this group, and the song Piece of My Heart definitely shows off her voice. The song was from their second album "Cheap Thrills" released by Columbia Records, and it sold over 2 million copies. The song was a breakout hit for the band, reaching #4 in the U.S.

That album introduced us to Janis Joplin, but she soon left for a solo career. She tagically died of a heroin overdose in 1970.

This is a scan of the single (Made in Canada). The other side of the single has the song Turtle Blues.

If you click here, you can hear a sample of the song Piece of My Heart.

Janis Joplin had a short career, and if you want to know more, click here.
